So we got up early and had our indulgent breakfast, back to the room for a nap - which ended up lasting two hours!!! We then spent most of the day reading and relaxing in our room - mum sipping her Mumm champagne (such a tough life). In the afternoon mum decided to venture out on her own and do a little shopping for a few nibbles for us to have for NYE before heading out into the freezing (but beautiful) Paris night. When she came back she was like a kid - "Ginny! OMG, I just found the BEST shoe store, there are heaps of shoes you will like. Get dressed, you need to come - NOW!!!"
Well, how could I say no? I got dressed and off we went to the shoe store down the road - I wasnt quite sure, but I think I had died and gone to Heaven. Shoes and boots EVERYWHERE! Oh. My. God. I did a few laps trying to narrow it down before telling the lady I wanted to try a size 38 in that one, that one, that one, that one, and that one. I narrowed it down to four, a pair of gorgeous flat boots, a pair of sexy high heel ankle boots, a stunning court shoe, and a funky, blingy platform boot (actually I may have tried on a few more now wthat I think of it). Can you believe they didnt have the flat boot in my size? I almost cried. I did buy the high heel boot, but passed on the court shoe - way too much toe cleavage, and the platform was just crazy high - I think I have enough ankle and back problems thank you very much! So, with a sad yet happy face, I left with only one pair of boots - but oh they are yummy!

We went back to our room and set up our feast - we didnt have enough room in the mini bar so we put some of the stuff in our "window fridge". Our window is double glazed, so there is an inside and an outside window, and between the two it is like 3 degrees - perfect for a window fridge!
We then had a bit of a read, a nap, and then got up and ready for our NYE celebration.
We partook of the feast, and of course the French champagne, then rugged up - I mean, REALLY rugged up, and headed out into the freezing night, headed towards the champs elysee and eiffel tower (that general area anyway. It was incredible! The amount of people blew us away - and the amount of traffic!!! There were cars and buses everywhere tooting their horns.
We found a spot on the Seine reiver with a perfect view of the eiffel tower, with the eye and champes elysee behind us, and sat tight for half an hour or so waiting for midnight. The amount of people was just incredible. The lights along the river at night were stunning and I got a few nice pics. We took a few self portraits too - laughing as we were so rugged up! Despite this, mum started getting cold.
It was midnight, a few little firecrackers were let off in the crown, the excitement was mounting, we stared expectantly at the eiffel tower.... nothing...... nothing............nothing - OMG hurry up!!! We were bursting to yell Bon Annee!!!!
Then, finally!!!! the eiffel tower lit up in gorgeous sparkling lights - BON ANNEE!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! People around us cheered - and the eiffel tower kept sparkling, aaand, it sparkled, did a bit of sparkling, and then a bit more..... and stopped. Oh. That was it. No laser lights, no light show, no fireworks. No anything anywhere, except the sparkling eiffle tower - that you see every hour every night anyway.
Riiiiiiight. So, um, yeah, happy new year, Hahahahahaha.

That was it, that was our exciting NYE! hahahahaha, so funny, so perfect - its one you will NEVER forget. Despite the anti-climax, it still was amazing being around so many people and seeing the beauty of Paris at night. Mum was absolutely freezing, so rather than wander through the millions of people enjoying the jovial atmosphere, we walked slowly home looking at the gorgeous lights and buildings, and drunk people along the way - we were back in our hotel at 12:45.
So, a veeeeery funny NYE, but awesome just the same. We brought in 2011 in Paris - what more do you want?!?!?
Bonne Annee everyone!! xx xx xx
i like that chando!! ha ha ha XXXX
